Meet Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District

Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District

Our students have the chance to participate in semester-long unpaid internships in order to learn about the skills needed in their possible career choices, as well as to gain competencies that will help them achieve success in the workplace. I'm so proud to be a part of this wonderful program!

Why did you start your business?
I haven't started it, but rather our program has been running for a number of years here in our school district and has served as a model program for various School-to-Career collaboratives in our region and has been recognized for its exemplary design by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

How does your business give back to the community?
We are hopefully helping our students gain a better understanding of the world of work and helping prepare them for the demands of an ever-changing work force as they get ready to make their career decisions as they leave high school -- whether they go on to college, the military, or directly enter the job market.

Why did you join the Chamber?
I joined the Chamber to let more businesses, industries and service organizations in our area know about our unpaid internship possibilities. I hope that your company will consider what our program can provide!

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Most people don't know that I LOVE to cook and bake -- especially all kinds of Christmas cookies and candies! :)

Do you have an offer for other Chamber Members?
We offer you the chance to help your business, while at the same time helping to mentor a young person -- establishing the vital link between the schools and our local business community!
